Main Campus Covid Cleaning

UNM is updating its Campus COVID Cleaning/Disinfection procedure to align with the vaccination and mask-wearing requirements as follows:

If less than 24 hours have passed since the person who is diagnosed with COVID-19 has been in the space, Facilities Management will clean and disinfect the space.

Facilities Management has changed cleaning procedures. Cleaning and/or disinfection will now be done by hand wiping frequently touched surfaces of the area where a positive case has been reported. Misters or fumigation will no longer be utilized in areas that are occupied. The affected area(s) will need to be vacated for the duration of the cleaning when crews arrive. This does not require closure of the space or building.

If more than 24 hours have passed since the person who diagnosed with COVID-19 has been in the space, routine cleaning is enough.

If more than 3 days have passed since the person who is diagnosed with COVID-19 has been in the space, no additional cleaning (beyond regular cleaning practices) is needed.

Spaces will not be cleaned because there is a suspected or reported exposure unless the person is diagnosed with COVID-19.

UNM Departments such as SHAC, the Children’s Campus, Housing and Athletics, etc. will follow regulations and guidelines specific to their operations.

Please see the following CDC link for further information.
