UNM Fall classes go remote by Monday, November 23
Due to rising COVID-19 rates in New Mexico, Governor Lujan Grisham has wisely called for strong statewide public health restrictions. At UNM:
- The week of November 16 to November 22 will be a transition week. We are encouraging instructors to offer classes remotely beginning November 16, where possible, and to complete all face-to-face classes by November 21 at 5 p.m.
- Beginning November 23, UNM classes will be offered remotely. Please check your e-mail and the learning management system used for your class (for example: UNM Learn, Teams, etc.) for information about how to connect with your class and keep up with your coursework.
- Students working in research labs and maker spaces should contact their supervisors for information about safe restricted use of facilities. Lab and studio classes will only meet remotely beginning November 23, except in approved special cases and in support of clinical experiences.
- The computer lab in Dane Smith Hall will remain open for those of you who need it.
- Student housing and residential food service will remain available and students do not need to change housing plans.
So . . . reach out:
- Make sure every Lobo knows about the stress and support services available at UNM at mentalhealth.unm.edu.
- Contact Lobo Respect Advocacy Center if you need help asking your instructor for extra flexibility or if you need help finding resources like the food pantry or crisis help.
- The Women's Resource Center, the Veteran's Resource Center, The LGBTQ Resource Center, African American Student Services, El Centro de la Raza, American Indian Student Services, College Enrichment Program (especially for rural, first generation, and low income students) all want to hear from you and provide help.
- Peer tutoring is available online.
- Your academic advisor can help you make smart decisions about next steps with your classes and major.
- Call Student Health and Counseling at (505) 277-3136 if you have worrisome symptoms.
- Work with your friends or family on a plan to keep everyone connected and everyone safe.
- Set up some zoom study sessions with people in your classes so that you don't get too isolated.
- And, you know the drill: wear a mask, wash your hands, stay socially distanced, be kind, ask for help.
We have done an amazing thing together this semester. We have stayed healthy and strong and have remained invested in our educations and careers. I am so proud of what Lobos have achieved despite the pandemic. Let's stay the course to completion of the semester and completion of your degree.
